Intel bluetooth drivers / firmware no longer works on Linux Mint 21.1

Post by pergamin »

Hi, I have a problem with my Intel 7260 AC Wireless + Bluetooth adapter in Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon.

I wanted to connect my Audio Technica ATH-M50xBT2, but cannot conect or pair. So, I bougth a BT 5.0 adapter in order to work under Linux. My error was not to be sure that the adapter was Linux compatible, so, I connected and I had aproblems and the adapter not work. Then, I force to install realtek drivers/firmware and the adapter works, but the ATH-M50xBT2 never paired.

Before force the drivers, everytime I connected the BT adapter, Blueman show 2 BT adapters, but since I forced, the original intel adapter of the 7260 AC stop to function and I can't solution the problem or restore the configuration in order to get full operative the Intel 7260 AC. Wireless can resolve good, but I loss the Bluetooth. As the adapter cannot function under Linux to connect my ATH-M50xBT2, I will bouth another BT 5.0 adapter, but Linux compatible.

Also, I have dualboot and in Windows 10 and the Intel 7260 AC + BT, can connect perfect to my ATH-50xBT2.

Can anyone help me to restore or reload the drivers/firmware in order to get operative with Bluetooth my Intel 7260 AC under Linux Mint 21.1?

Thanks.

You might need to disable both secure boot in Bios & fast startup in Windows:

I already have disabled secure boot in BIOS and fast startup in Windows.

Code: Select all

sudo mokutil --sb-state
SecureBoot disabled

What results for

Code: Select all

lsmod | grep bluetooth; dkms status; modinfo btusb
I am sure that bluetooth should work fine in any Linux distro as I know the device ID was added to the kernel some years ago

Do you remember where you got the Realtek drivers/firmware from and how they were installed?

No, I don't remember, but I force that firmware (realtek).

So, the realtek now is a bad installation, it is unstable. I want to return the Intel Bluetooth drivers to its original.

In fact, now when I forced the reatek installation, only shows realtek and the Intel bluetooth of the 7260 AC don't work. Before the change Intell bouetooth works correctly. but without pairing the ATH-M50XBT2. Right now, I don't care that don't pair the headset, but I want to restore the Intel bluetooth because I couldn't.

I correct the error with:

sudo apt install --reinstall linux-modules-extra-5.15.0-67-generic

Code: Select all

That seems recovered the Intel Bluetooth:

Code: Select all

inxi --bluetooth -z

Report: hciconfig ID: hci0 state: up address: <filter> bt-v: 2.1

Code: Select all

lsmod | grep bluetooth; dkms status; modinfo btusb
