Initial Setup of Synology NAS to mount in Linux Mint 21 Vanessa

Post by DevonRefSM »

Hello,

I have been trawling the boards for advice, but have not been able to find something at the basic level I need, so I thought I would reach out and see if there was a kind soul who could lead me through the nose in the SMB / fstab to mount my Synology D212j NAS currently on the home network on my LINUX laptop as I have finally had enough of the Win10 PC upon which I CAN mount my NAS.

Is there anyone out there kind enough to help?

I know the IP address and my security credentials of my NAS (natch) but it's the leap from that to getting the fstab right which is not working

I currently have this in the fstab (not working) (obvs hidden user and pword for the forum)

Code: Select all

# mount point for synology NAS
//192.168.1.242// mnt/public cifs username=user,password=pword,rw,uid=1000,gid=500
