Solved Epson V370 recognized but no connection

Post by Bertie5 »

Thanks to CaptHaddock and SMG for their clear explanations which solved the problem. Also remember RBM as a rule to live by - READ the BLO_DY MANUAL!

System
Linux Mint 21.1
64 bit
Scanner: Epson Perfecton V370

Linux cannot connect to my Scanner even though it is recognized; the printer works fine.
I've tried many of the solutions I've found in other posts, but the system stubbornly refuses to connect. These are two messages I get from testing the scanner with it turned on:

Epson Scan: Unable to communicate with the scanner. Make sure the scanner is connected to the computer and turned on.
VueScan: VueScan found Epson Perfection V37/V370, but no plugin for this scanner was found on your system.

I've installed and uninstalled the Epson driver -- epsonscan2-bundle-6.7.43.0.x86_64.deb.tar.gz -- a couple of times and done the same with xsane. I'm not sure what plugin is requested. I thought the driver package had everything needed.

The lusb command produces this:

I'm a bit new to this, so I haven't attempted changing .dll or .conf files in the root directory but I'm happy to try anything to get it working.
Any help is appreciated.
