High, I had been using a 3rd generation i5 Lenovo Laptop and After Mint 19.0 or so, it started locking up after being in use for a day. No updates helped, I had several threads desperately trying to solve what appeared to be a memory management problem.
I retired the laptop.
Now I have a brand new Lenovo, model 15ABA7 Idea Pad. I love it, but I had some problems earlier getting wifi working and had to move to a mainline Kernel.
It just slowed to a crawl and I had to force a reboot. CTRL-ALT-BKSP didn't help.
So it appears that memory issue still exists in Mint.
Will increasing my RAM above 8GB help? I plan on adding a 16 GB stick. But for the meant time, is there anything else I can do?

I've been using Mint for over 4 years, but I'm still a slow learner. I have a website: https://pickfetish.com. It is dedicated to guitar/instrument picks.

You might want to keep an eye on what is using up your memory.
Menu - System Monitor - sort by Memory
or in a Terminal
should give you a good idea of what is consuming your memory - or if it is something else that is an issue..

That's almost always a bad idea. Did you try the latest official OEM kernel?

I had to have 6.2 or newer, because the driver was only in that iteration and we tried getting the driver installed in lower kernels but the software for the driver wouldn't Make, it threw up errors. The problem was no wifi.
