21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
I've deleted the ghost files from the USB Ghost (no flash drive inserted) but the drive still shows in file explorer under devices Nemo 5.6.1 I've restarted the computer but the USB still shows in Nemo? How can I delete the USB in Nemo?

Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Please provide a screenshot for this mystery. What does Disks say?
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
screen shot is 'bout worthless, when I enlarge the shot it's TOO blurry. In Nemo It just show under devices USB with the mount symbol. under Disk it shows the normal hard drives and the cdrom and NO USB. I don't know how to get a good screenshot that's not blurry.
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Okay I tried a screenshot of the Properties Nemo device USB and I think you'll be able to see it. It show the directory as a "inode/directory" I don't know what that is and I can't delete it either?
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Unmount it and plug it out.
I do not see any hint, that this is a ghost.

Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
It's what I call a ghost in that there's no USB drive inserted (Long Gone). The files that were showing on that drive have been deleted and all that left is the Icon on the main page and in the Devices folder. I don't understand why it's still showing up under devices when there's nothing plugged in?
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Have you tried clicking on the Eject icon?
It's the arrow next to "20 GB Volume".

Does the ghost show in Disks or not?
Open Users & Groups and create a new account for testing. Reboot and log into the new account. How does it appear there?

under Disk it shows the normal hard drives and the cdrom and NO USB. I did answer earlier.
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Also, there is NO EJECT button.
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Just mount/unmount is all and nothing happens when those buttons are used. Nothing happens when I right mouse click any options there either.

The result in a test account?
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Ok. Let's get some information so that we can get to the bottom of this.
Please copy the following compound command:
As a tip, there's text that says:
CODE: SELECT ALL
that's found above the command in the code box. If you click on SELECT ALL, everything in the code box will be selected. You can then perform a Ctrl+c (or right click, copy) and then paste the command (Shift+Ctrl+V) into Terminal to run it. This prevents making any typing mistakes.

the text instead of Blacks, it's now Greens, and I Don't know what that means? Yes, I deliberately rhymed it.
Re: 21.1 has ghost USB. can't get rid of it?
Run this command in Terminal and see if it disappears:
Code: Select all
sudo umount --force /dev/sda6
