[SOLVED]: Microphone not working properly on Gigabyte hardware

additionally bluetooth headset when set to microphone mode, wont let youtube start playing or sound recorder from adding anything, just hangs at zero seconds and freezes the program

Please open the System Reports app and click the System Information tab on the left. Your computer's information should come up in the right pane. Then click the Copy button in the lower right and paste the results into a reply window here so we can see how Linux Mint views your hardware.

To what type of port are you attaching the microphone?

No port for the microphone, but wireless bluetooth earbuds. Also can confirm hardware is working as i dual booted into windows and its all working

I didn't realize you had a laptop. I usually think of Gigabyte as just the motherboard in a desktop (although I know they have laptops).

Your system is a 13th-gen Intel CPU and needs to be using a newer kernel than 5.15. Please try the 6.1-oem and let's see if that helps.

You can install the latest 6.1-oem kernel with

sudo apt-get install linux-oem-22.04c
and reboot.

okay great the bluetooth microphone is working now, and sound is no longer frozen in HFP mode
