[Solved]Cannot install Mint on Dell Inspiron 3700

Post by sleepymouse »

Hi Everyone
I'm having issues installing Mint 21 on a Dell Inspiron 3700.

Ive formatted the hard drive and run the live USB bit when i try to install it I keep getting the following error message.

[Errno 5] Input/output error

it then says about a faulty CD/DVD for faulty hard drive. The hard drive is fine and has been running W10 for a while with no issues and I've not had an issue until I tried to install Mint 21.

Any help gratefully received.

Thank you in advance

Did you verify the integrity and authenticity of the ISO file?

Have you tried a different USB port on that machine?
