Failure to resume from suspend, intermittent <SOLVED>

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop on which I've install Mint 21.1. It's sometimes failing to resume after a suspend (from the shutdown options). I have to hold down the power button to get it to boot.

I see some other suspend problems have been reported for 21.1 but don't like to jump on someone else's thread as the hardware's not the same. Any guidance would be appreciated.
