Wired headphones not detected - Speakers and bluetooth is fine

Post by dooli »

Hi there!
I have an ASUS flip chromebook that was previously running on ChromeOS. I've removed that and installed Linux Mint instead. Unfortunately I have come across a number of issues, one being sound.

Wired headphones are like a ghost - if i plug them in or not, sound will play through my speakers. pavucontrol does not see them, but they do work on other devices. Bluetooth headphones are fine though - they work as they should.
One more thing I feel like I should mention: my function keys do not work (probably because I don't have them). A virtual keyboard does not help.

Welcome to the forum, dooli.

There is a special section in the Tips for Troubleshooting Sound Issues Rev. 1 for Chromebooks because their hardware in many respects is not quite the same as a laptop. MrChromebox does his best, but sometimes getting full functionality of all sound modalities does not happen.

From my searching, the fact you have sound from the speakers is good. Have you checked alsamixer (explained in the tips topic) to see if any adjustments could be made?

You could see if a newer kernel helps. You can install the latest 6.1-oem kernel with

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-oem-22.04c
and reboot.

Hi SMG,

I've tried installing the latest kernel but the issue persists. I'll bear with it though and get wireless headphones.

Thanks for your help anyways!
