LM 20.3 Wireless stopped. <SOLVED>

Post by ichido »

I tried LM 21.1 and it was a complete disaster, so I went back to my LM 20.3, but now my wireless will not connect.
Does this help...

Code: Select all

Latitude-E6420:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

wlp3s0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:off/any
          Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=15 dBm
          Retry short limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off

eno1 no wireless extensions.
Cable Works!

I don't see what is causing the problem. Does wifi work if you remove the ethernet cable?
Or, maybe restart your router & machine.

You can also try toggle the wifi switch off & back on again. Or:

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi && sudo modprobe iwlwifi && sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service

Tried both several times and did not work.

Does wifi work if you remove the ethernet cable? No Effect!
Or, maybe restart your router & machine. Tried this several times but to no avail.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: LM 20.3 Wireless stopped. <SOLVED>

Good News and Bad News!

I have tried everything I could think of and everything suggested to me, so thanks to all who replied trying to help me!!

Now, GOOD NEWS. My WiFi is working again!

The BAD NEWS, I have no idea why.

I used TIMESHIFT and went back to a month ago, when my WiFi worked. This had no change. Still could not connect to my WiFi.

So, I again used Timeshift and Used the Latest Set up. When I reset and Rebooted, It Now Works!?
I don't know why, but it works and for how long I don't know.

Again THANKS to all who helped!

Also, can anyone explain to me....

-E6420:~$ mokutil --sb-state
EFI variables are not supported on this system

Thanks again!

As a result of the mokutil command, It just means you have no secure boot on that machine.
