I'm lost, despite having used Mint and OpenVPN in combination for years.
Is anyone running OpenVPN 2.6.4 (latest version) right now?
How did you install it? Are you able to perform updates/upgrades of OpenVPN via a repository or do you perform a purge and then install new versions?
"sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn" is the method shown in some guides to install OpenVPN client.
I seem to have version 2.4.7 on my system but I don't know if this is the client app or server app or what.
Is it necessary to manually update my OpenVPN client version or is this taken care of by Mint updates in some way?
Can anyone set me straight on how this works?

Re: Latest version OpenVPN client install
I see that OpenVPN is installed by default.
In Mint 21.1, running
In Mint 21.1, running
openvpn --version
shows version 2.5.5, which is from December 2021....Re: Latest version OpenVPN client install
It's a repository version built on Jul 14 2022, working without issues and updated automatically:
Code: Select all
openvpn --version
