This is the first time I saw youtube asking for DRM.
Is this a normal phenomenon?

Re: DRM on youtube
I already have that enabled for Netflix and probably for Disney+. I didn't expect it would be needed on YouTube. Looking online, apparently DRM-protected videos have been a thing for a few years, at least. Come to think of it, I do vaguely remember seeing a DRM option after uploading a video to YouTube. So, yeah, it's normal, at least for some videos.
I'm also Terminalforlife on GitHub.
Re: DRM on youtube
AFAIK it's been there for a while. Maybe you changed browser settings somehow without realizing it, that happens.

Re: DRM on youtube
I don't remember changing any setting. I received the prompt after updating Firefox. That must've caused it I guess.
Anyways, I enabled it.
When I first saw it, I thought I won't be able to download the videos with yt-dlp if DRM is enabled. Thanks for clarifying.

Re: DRM on youtube
YouTube did not typically require DRM for regular user interactions on the platform before
but since 2022 they changed it (correct me if I'm wrong)
