Nvidia & Intel - Hybrid graphics support

Post by welzelf »

Hey everyone,

I'm a beginner Linux user having problems with my hybrid graphics card setup. I've already installed 4 different distros to try to solve my graphics cards problems (Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS, Pop!_OS, Fedora and Mint). I'm currently trying Mint because it appear to be the most stable from the ones I used.

My full configuration can be seen here, but I believe the most important part is this:

Code: Select all

Graphics:
  Device-1: Intel Alder Lake-P Integrated Graphics vendor: CLEVO/KAPOK
    driver: i915 v: kernel ports: active: eDP-1
    empty: DP-1, DP-2, DP-3, DP-4, HDMI-A-1, HDMI-A-2 bus-ID: 00:02.0
    chip-ID: 8086:46a6 class-ID: 0300
  Device-2: NVIDIA TU117M [GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile / Max-Q]
    vendor: CLEVO/KAPOK driver: nvidia v: 530.41.03 pcie: speed: 2.5 GT/s
    lanes: 8 ports: active: none empty: DP-5 bus-ID: 01:00.0
    chip-ID: 10de:1f9d class-ID: 0302
  Device-3: Chicony USB2.0 Camera type: USB driver: uvcvideo bus-ID: 1-8:5
    chip-ID: 04f2:b729 class-ID: fe01 serial: <filter>
  Display: x11 server: X.Org v: 1.21.1.4 driver: X:
    loaded: modesetting,nvidia unloaded: fbdev,nouveau,vesa gpu: i915
    display-ID: :0 screens: 1
  Screen-1: 0 s-res: 1920x1080 s-dpi: 102 s-size: 480x270mm (18.9x10.6")
    s-diag: 551mm (21.7")
  Monitor-1: eDP-1-1 mapped: eDP-1 model: AU Optronics res: 1920x1080
    hz: 144 dpi: 142 size: 344x193mm (13.5x7.6") diag: 394mm (15.5")
    modes: 1920x1080
  OpenGL: renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650/PCIe/SSE2
    v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 530.41.03 direct render: Yes
As you can see, I have already been able to install the nvidia and intel driver and set OpenGL renderer as NVIDIA, but it appears that the driver hasn't been loaded yet due to the "Display" driver being blank. To select the OpenGL renderer as NVIDIA I already run

Code: Select all

sudo prime-select nvidia
and have chosen the "Performance Mode" since I'm running in a laptop.

A few other specifications of my setup:
  • I'm running a dual boot with Windows 11 in a separate SSD (Both my monitors work when I'm in Windows);
  • nvidia-sim;
  • Nvidia Bug Report;
  • xrandr: As you can see, my second monitor isn't detected.
My final goal would be to run my two monitors just as I do on Windows. Can someone help me please?
