Hi! So, last week I installed clean Linux Mint 21.1. on a brand new computer and the operation went without a problem until the first login in the desktop environment (Cinnamon). Some characters in the keyboard were on the opposite side of the board (Logitech MK240).
I scrolled thru the threads with the similar issues in here and the most common suggestion was to reconfigure keyboard settings in the Terminal using command-line:
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
I did that input, then selected the right layout from the menu that opened and left all other options the way they are because I was happy with that. I closed the Terminal and rebooted. Upon logging-in the desktop, some characters in keyboard were still on opposite sides. Since most (but not all) of those characters were specific to my language (Croatian), I scrolled thru threads on this specific topic. The most common fix was to run the commands that corrects the the problem with the locale en_US.utf.8:
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
sudo update-locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8
sudo locale-gen --purge --no-archive
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
That didn`t fix the problem neither. Now, it`s possible that during this last input I typed the first command twice by mistake. If so, how do I undo that? If not, what`s the next step boss-man?
.
Environment: Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon 64-bit Kernel 5.19. 0-43
Desktop: Processor AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650g With Radeon Graphics x 6 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Renoir
*Say, my new PC is an configuration assembled for sale by a local retailer:
