LDME 5 HP ProBook 450 G7 No Sound

Post by worrum »

Hello. I don't have any sound in my LDME 5 system. In sound settings there are a sound card, but no sound. In input devices (microphone), empty, no devices at all. Previously, I was using Ubuntu 22.04 and didn't have any problems with sound.
Here are some outputs for you:

LMDE5 is based on older code-base than your previously installed Ubuntu 22.04.
Most probably you need newer firmware. The very latest can be found here.
You can alternatively download Debian Bookworm's firmware.
Disclaimer: Although this is harmless package that would only install newer firmware files in your /lib/firmware, don't make mixing packages from different Debian versions a habit.
Now, perhaps you may have to install a more recent kernel from Debian Backports: sudo apt install -t bullseye-backports linux-image-amd64.
Good idea in general with your hardware.
