I installed XFCE into Oracle VirtualBox without issue. I recently changed to a wifi-only ISP.The problem is that it will not recognise the wifi connection. What do I do?

Re: XFCE in VirtualBox - wifi connection not recognized

Post by linux-rox »

The relevant network setting is the one for the VM in VBox. Usual arrangement is a virtual wired connection, which piggy-backs on whatever the host has (and knows nothing about it). Works fine, and I have only wifi on all my VBox hosts. For example:

Code: Select all

rox@cinn-21-fde:~$ inxi -SMN
System:
  Host: cinn-21-fde Kernel: 5.15.0-89-generic x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: Cinnamon 5.6.7 Distro: Linux Mint 21.1 Vera
Machine:
Type: Virtualbox System: innotek GmbH product: VirtualBox v: 1.2
    serial: <superuser required>
  Mobo: Oracle model: VirtualBox v: 1.2 serial: <superuser required>
BIOS: innotek GmbH v: VirtualBox date: 12/01/2006
Network:
  Device-1: Intel 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet driver: e1000
Device-2: Intel 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI type: network bridge
    driver: piix4_smbus
That's not the ethernet adapter of the host, by the way.
