Mint Cinnamon 21.1 Icons

Post by TaterChip »

Last night I screwed up my computer. Timeshift wasn't any help in fixing it, so since I was going to have to re-install the OS I figured I would try the cinnamon variety.

It's driving me nuts that I can't arrange the desktop icons the way I want them. I have right clicked in a blank space on the desktop, and clicked "customize" there isn't anything there on arranging icons.

What am I missing? How do I arrange the icons the way I want?

How do you want to arrange them exactly? These are the options:

Those weren't showing up until I rebooted the system. Really weird. I went in there to see about something else and those options are now available.

Thanks for your help.

And now I can't get back to the window that you're showing when I Right click and click on customize. This is the only window that I get. What's the trick because apparently I just stumbled across it last time by dumb luck.

The latest screen shot is the one you should get when selecting Customize off the desktop's right-click menu.

If you click on Desktop Settings (also can be opened from Menu), the first one controls where to display desktop icons.

How many monitors do you have, anyway?

Two monitors, a laptop, and a 27 inch external. And since you ask that question, it got me to thinking. I tried right clicking on the external monitor, and I got to where I needed to be. That's kinda weird since the laptop is the primary monitor. Anyhow, I was able to fix what needed to be fixed, so thank you.
