Hello.
I recently upgraded to Mint 21.2 Xfce. In 21.1 there was an icon theme called Mint-Y-Legacy which I would like to have. Where can I download it? Thank you kindly.
[SOLVED] Where can I get the Mint-Y-Legacy icon theme?

Re: Where can I get the Mint-Y-Legacy icon theme?
or in a terminal:
Code: Select all
apt install mint-y-icons-legacy
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.
Re: Where can I get the Mint-Y-Legacy icon theme?
First thing I tried, the mint-y-icons-legacy icons are not in the 21.2 repos. I tried the default repositories and closest mirrors.
The mint-y-icons package doesn't have the Legacy theme.

Re: Where can I get the Mint-Y-Legacy icon theme?
When trying to install the mint-y-icons-legacy package using apt I get the message:
mint-l-icons is already installed, but this is not a package rename. The mint-l icons only contain the places section. Meaning it's just the folders icons without the Firefox, Mail, Emacs, etc. icons.
I mounted the 21.1 iso hoping I could get the icons from there to no avail.
Code: Select all
Package mint-y-icons-legacy is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
mint-l-icons
E: Package 'mint-y-icons-legacy' has no installation candidate
I mounted the 21.1 iso hoping I could get the icons from there to no avail.

Re: Where can I get the Mint-Y-Legacy icon theme?
They renamed the Mint-Y-Legacy to Mint-L in 21.2.
There is no difference in application icon between Mint-Y-Legacy and Mint-Y. So probably Mint devs wrote some inheritance pointer for Mint-Y-Legacy/Mint-L.

Unfortunately there is. I ended up copying the Mint-Y theme from LM20.3 and renaming it for use in LM21.billyswong wrote: ⤴Sun Dec 17, 2023 2:36 am There is no difference in application icon between Mint-Y-Legacy and Mint-Y.

You are probably talking about the action icons and status icons. They are not application icons, or at least they are not icons in the "apps" folder.AndyMH wrote: ⤴Sun Dec 17, 2023 10:02 amUnfortunately there is. Yes, some action icons have changed (the ones in evolution annoy me the most along with save changing to a down arrow instead of a floppy disk), but...
No, some application icons have changed.
LM20.3, Mint-Y: Backintime is the almost invisible floppy disk third from the right.
LM21.2, Mint legacy: Backintime is the blue filing cabinet with the down arrow.
Backintime is a QT application, I wonder if there is a clue there?

@AndyMH since that Backintime icon turned from almost invisible to clearly visible, I guess this change is "fine"?
