LMDE 6 (faye) kernel 6.1.0-15 network hung up

Post by oppiman »

Hey,
I run LMDE 6 on an older Dell M4500.
No issues with kernel 6.1.0-13-amd64.

After updating to 6.1.0-15-amd64:
- the laptop boots as always
- I can log into X
- network says connecting to wifi...
- after a few seconds, it says connection failed
- and then X is unresponsive, I can't shut down, the network icon shows no connection at all

Press power button to turn off, on again,
advanced ...boot into kernel 6.1.0.13...and all is good again.

Reason: Moved to LMDE Networking forum because the user has LMDE.

Hello, oppiman.

Stay with kernel 6.1.0-13, which works correctly still, till the networking regression, introduced in kernel 6.1.0-15, will be fixed by kernel 6.1.0-16.
Kernel 6.1.0-16 may be released pretty soon, as far as I know.

Thank you!
Will do and test once 6.1.0-16 is available.

6.1.0-15 was signed some time ago. Note that I have proposed updates available but it should be in stable already as well.

To enable proposed updates open Synaptic -> Settings --> Repositories and switch on the option then Reload packages information.

Thanks a lot!

~$ uname -rv
6.1.0-16-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.67-1 (2023-12-12)

Works like a charm.
