Boot issues in LMDE 6

Post by javoerro »

Hi!
I installed LMDE 6 on a USB external HDD without any additional OS present in any media. Since the USB HDD is often disconnected, I aimed to avoid using grub and manage the boot from UEFI. Therefore, I didn’t check the “install grub” option initially. However, this led to the system being unable to boot. Realizing this, I reinstalled, making sure to check the “install grub” option. The system then booted successfully. Everything was fine until I disconnected the LMDE USB and switched to another one with Ubuntu. Ubuntu booted fine, but when attempting to boot LMDE again, the system couldn’t find a bootable media, and grub seemed to be completely gone (not even grub rescue appeared). I’ve observed this behavior twice; I’m certain of what I’m telling you.

What could be the problem?
