I think this is where I mention I'm a total linux noob. And trying to figure things out each day as I use it.
I'm currently using Linux Mint MATE 21.2 victoria. And for the past couple days I've begun seeing this issue on my desktop. All my home folders show up on the desktop. I went through the forums and tried editing the user-dirs.dir config file by including the change "XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop"
which worked once. But as soon as I rebooted the device it goes back to the same and the Desktop goes missing again. and editing the config file doesnt work anymore.
What do I do ?
Home folders keep showing up on desktop

Re: Home folders keep showing up on desktop
Look at the switch position in the "dconf" editor
/org/mate/caja/preferences/desktop-is-home-dir
/org/mate/caja/preferences/desktop-is-home-dir
If this key is set, the user's home folder will be used as the desktop. Otherwise, the ~/Desktop folder will be used as the desktop.
