"No KVM" error making new Boxes VM [Closed]

Post by Catsbark »

I just installed Gnome Boxes (Flatpak version through the Software Manager) on an HP ProBook laptop. When I try to create a new box from a file (Windows7), it displays an error "No KVM." How can I get past this problem?

A complicating factor: this laptop's UEFI is password protected (and of course, I don't know the password) with Hardware Virtualization turned off.

If I remember correctly, you need to enable hardware virtualization.

As to the password, HP says that you'll need to replace the motherboard. However, some HP laptops can be password reset in an easy way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvLzWW9Ot6I

I found this website, but I don't know if that works or not: https://logmeonce.com/resources/hp-prob ... ord-reset/

Thanks for the resources. From a quick glance, they don't look very promising, but I'll examine them further when I get a chance.
