Linux Mint 21.3 (upgrade from 21.1) on Lenovo Ideacentre AIO 520-22IKU.
My 2TB WD external hard drive does not mount on start-up. I have to unplug it and plug it in again. I use this hard drive for my Backintime backups, which are scheduled to run at 8 a.m. every day. But they don't run because Backintime cannot find the drive.
I have read a similar recent thread (from which I stole the title) which remains unsolved.
Any help gratefully received.

Re: External USB Hard Drive Does Not Mount
Have you tried to add the uuid of the partition in question to your
/etc/fstab
? That should do the trick. I suggest you use the "nofail" option, otherwise you computer won't boot if the drive is not plugged in.Re: External USB Hard Drive Does Not Mount
Thank you for your response. The uuid is eeeec87b-13fd-48ac-b13e-36811025c340. It is Ext4 and the Disks application tells me it is device /dev/sdb1. How exactly should I add it to fstab; I mean what should I type?Hawaiihemd wrote: ⤴Sat Feb 10, 2024 6:07 am Have you tried to add the uuid of the partition in question to your/etc/fstab

Re: External USB Hard Drive Does Not Mount
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fstab should explain it all.
