Unique Desktops per Workspace <answered>

Post by mmorse251 »

System:
Kernel: 5.15.0-79-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 11.3.0
Desktop: Cinnamon 5.6.8 tk: GTK 3.24.33 wm: muffin vt: 7 dm: LightDM 1.30.0
Distro: Linux Mint 21.1 Vera base: Ubuntu 22.04 jammy

I have four workspaces (actually only use two at any given time) that I scroll through fairly often. Is it possible for each workspace to have its own appearance ie: its own wallpaper, short icons, etc?

Re: Unique Desktops per Workspace
To my knowledge No, as currently you are using cinnamon and that will be your desktop environment for that current session. But you can use different desktop environment (if you installed them but IMO this lead to instability) and can be selected during login

Yes, please right click on empty space on your desktop and navigate to Desktop Settings..., select whatever wallpaper you like then uncheck "Apply to all workspaces"
Repeat to all workspaces

To my knowledge No, your icons is set on Appearance --> Icons and do vary only on user to user cases

When a right click on my desktop there is no option called "Desktop Settings". The closer one would be Display Settings, which is for a different thing. There is also a menu item called "Customize", which has a "Desktop Settings" link inside, however, it doesn't have a "Apply to all workspaces" option.

What am I missing?
Lenovo ThinkPad T430 - Intel i5-3320M @ 2.6 GHz - 6 GB DDRAM - 480 GB SSD + 500 GB HDD - Linux Mint 21.2 w/ Cinnamon
Lenovo ThinkPad T470s - Intel i5-6300U @ 3 GHz - 8 GB DDRAM - 256 GB SSD - Linux Mint 21.2 w/ Cinnamon

Sorry i am Xfce flavor exclusive user. Let us wait for other members which primary use Cinnamon flavor for their ideas.
