Problem Installing and Setting Remote Desktop Access for Linux Mint PCs

Post by cwtchuser »

Hi, I'm finding myself stuck here:
paste and run following lines in Terminal. You can do it in one step, no need to go line by line.
When I run

Code: Select all

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.sharing active true
, I get the output

Code: Select all

Le schéma « org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.sharing » n'existe pas
.

How do I make it exist?

Modifications related to LMDE5 and Linux Mint 21.x are discussed in this post:
viewtopic.php?p=2161476#p2161476
Just follow them.

Also, you may want to download fully automated installer to do everything for yourself

If you encounter any other problem feel free to write again.

Good grief

1) Display a remote desktop of a Linux system on a Linux system: Remmina+x11vnc+SSH

2) Display a remote desktop of a Windows system on a Linux system: Remmina+RDP+SSH

3) Display a remote desktop of a Linux system on a Windows system: XRDP

4) Display specific applications of a Linux system remotely on a Linux system: Remmina+SSH+X11 forwarding

5) XRDP is the best Windows client and Remmina is the best Linux client.

6) Remmina itself can be X11 forwarded for SFTP from Windows

Try NoMachine. Virtually painless, and very UNcomplicated. I've been using it for awhile now, and even connected to a remote system over the internet, lag is pretty much nil. GREAT utility, available for Linux, Windless and Mac. IMO, WAY better than any VNC I've used, and WAY better than Teamviewer....Oh, and it's FREE!

As promised I prepared auto-installer also for Vino VNC Server.

The Package is prepared with 'makeself' application but you can install it even without it. Download link is as follows:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5pe2f7juclawi ... -null?dl=0

Although the original file was with execution permission it was removed once downloaded from Internet, so please, right-click on the file and change permissions so that it is executable again.

You can read full tutorial online at this link:

Using Easy-Set-Vino is already explained in the main tutorial.
You should move this to the top of the post, it made thing so much easier. Thank you

It's done! Sorry, but those installers were posted many months after my first post and I didn't realize many people who were reading it actually knew which VNC server they wanted.
