I haven't tried to do this in a while however I seem to remember that it was a pain in the proverbial...

I'm afraid you may have to wait for a 64bit guru to help

I know in 32bit mint it's as simple as pressing the flash button on the BBC Iplayer website and within about 3min your away

Maybe you can try here:

and you could also try looking for posts either on the Ubuntu forums (http://www.ubuntuforums.org) or even on the BBC Iplayer Message boards (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbiplayer)

Don't think it works on x64, at least it didn't last time I tried it. This was down to lack of 64bit support from Adobe though there seems to be progress on that fron so maybe it'll work in the near future?

I believe that page was there when I tried it last, it didn't work. You can install Air, but when you get to the iPlayer Desktop install it doesn't do anything, just sits there, at least that was my experience at the time.
