I am having some trouble with a family member's PC.
It is a custom build PC with an ASUS H61 chipset motherboard, i5-3470, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1x120GB SSD mounted at / and 1x 320GB HDD mounted at /home/
It runs Linux mint 21.2
It is a bit old but should be fast for their use, they literally use libreoffice and firefox and that is all.
The PC has got to the point of being so slow typing takes 3-4 seconds for anything to happen.
However booting from the liveUSB it is fine and speedy.
I am suspecting it could be the SSD or HDD but I cannot see any errors on the SSD or HDD using smartctl.
What could be my best course of troubleshooting to prove it?
I have completely re-installed linux mint erasing all the partitions and starting fresh but this made no change.
