I installed an NVIDIA 4060 Ti and when I tried to boot with the HDMI plugged into the GPU I was getting a nouveau chipset error on boot.
I reconnected the HDMI for the monitor into the CPU and was able to boot after replacing quiet splash with nomodset. (Initially I couldn't even have the GPU plugged into the motherboard at all)
I've made some progress, now I'm at the point where it does have the NVIDIA drivers installed and I am able to choose NVIDIA perfromance mode in the NVIDIA X Server app under PRIME profiles.
I initially used the nouveau driver but changed to the 535 driver once I was able to.
Also upgraded the kernel to 6.5 from 5.15.
I read in a different post that I was supposed to delete the .conf file but wasn't able to find it, just the folder. (Not sure if this is causing an issue.)
Currently whenever I try to shut down and change the HDMI to the gpu it shows a DRM error and goes to a flashing black screen and I can enter tty1.

Not sure how to proceed. Will try more drivers in the meanitme, after I add the third error to this post.
In case it helps:
