Bluetooth instable / sudden disconnections

Post by raffael84 »

Hello,

about four weeks ago (+/- ... don't remember exactly) my rather stable bluetooth experience started to become instable. I'm using bluetooth with my two Air Pods Pro Gen1 and Gen2 which both work fine with my iPhone. They also didn't cause any trouble for the first months on my T14s. But at some point they both (which is why I assume the issue is on the comuter's side) they started to show the following annoying pattern. At first the sound becomes glitchy for a few seconds and recovers. This happens a few time with increasing frequency when suddenly the connection is lost. According to the bluetooth manager the connection is still established, though. This happens with me sitting right in front of the computer. I assume there is some update that caused the trouble. I'm travelling at the moment and cannot cross check with yet another brand of BT earphones. There is also another problem with audio crackling on the internal speakers showing a very similar pattern which might be connected to the bluetooth issues.

I would like to try reinstallation of the relevant components or downgrading to earlier versions of the bluetooth or audio drivers to see if that works. And I wouldn't write this if I wasn't interested in your input. The problem is so nagging at this point that it really isn't fun anymore using earphones on the laptop.

Thanks

Try this:
Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels
Install the latest kernel of the 6.5 series. Then reboot and test.

raffael84 ,

my Galaxy Buds Live started giving me problems a few weeks ago, and I found that all I had to do was to connect the small wireless aerial that came with the motherboard, and they immediately started to work perfectly.

Best regards Keith

Is there a reason why this kernel isn't already installed? Shouldn't major version of 6 and a minor version of 5 indicate a very high maturity and reliability?

Why is 6.5.0-26 supported only until August 2024 while 5.15.0-101 is supported until April 2027 and then why are the 5.19 kernels already end of life?

Sorry, for those rather tangential questions. But this is why I tend to abstain from kernels as I simply already fail to make even a basic sense of their versioning. If you don't feel like answering my questions - can you point me at some concise explanation?

I'm not in the habit of answering all kinds of questions about the things that I've advised, but okay then, since I've published something about this on my website anyway:
