[Solved] Chrome is able to see different folders, but Edge can't

Post by sodeve »

I found a weird issue here. Google chrome browser is able to see folders that MS Edge can't.

Chrome is able to see /mnt folder

but Edge can't

but both are running under the same user.

What could be the reason? and how to fix it?

Please help. Thank you.

Hello sodeve welcome to the Forum.
Please share your system info by going to:
Menu/System Reports/System Information/click "Copy"
and pasting it here.
(You can use the command inxi -Fxxxmprz on the Terminal.)

Is one, or both, of Chrome or Edge Flatpaks by any chance? Flatpaks have different permissions for folders due to sandboxing.

Install flatseal, you can change the permissions of flatpaks. I've never used it, I avoid them.

I installed flatseal, but the moment I open it, it broke my display. The whole screen is black. The icons in taskbar also gone.

So I search for another way to configure flakpak. Then I discovered flatpak override command

Code: Select all

sudo flatpak override com.microsoft.Edge --filesystem=/mnt
above code made Edge able to access files under /mnt folder.

Now, how do I mark this topic as resolved?

Thanks for everyone who spend their thought on this :D

Go back to your first post and click the edit icon (the one with a pencil) and add [solved] into the title.
