Cannot get my mounted network shared dirs to show

Post by Logansfury »

Hello,

I have followed forum instructions to put my mounted network drive icons on my desktop:

even though the shares are selected, none of my 3 mounted drives are showing. Can anyone help?

Run the following command:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-fuse /run/user/$UID/gvfs
Does it show up now?

Hello Altair4,

Thank you for the instruction. It did not work but perhaps it revealed the problem? Do you recognize the cause of this error?

Code: Select all

logan@HP-Z220-SFF-Workstation:~$ /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-fuse /run/user/$UID/gvfs
fusermount3: failed to access mountpoint /run/user/1001/gvfs: Permission denied
logan@HP-Z220-SFF-Workstation:~$
It is worth noting that I am on my 2nd user account, which has all permissions of my orig Admin account but is notorious for failing to run terminal commands due to permissions. I cannot understand it.

I have wiped the previous install and made a pure Xfce install. Now even as the only admin user on the box, I am still getting this error.

Can anyone help? This was instant gratification on Cinnamon why is this such a chore on Xfce?
