disable bluetooth

Post by Uli »

Hi,

OS: Linux Mint 20.2 x86_64 Cinnamon
Kernel: 5.4.0-74-generic
Bluetooth Device:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:b00a Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
(applies to new and old system)

I used to be able to open the Bluetooth window with one click and activate or deactivate Bluetooth with another click and the system remembered this configuration, even after shutting down and rebooting. Presumably after the update marked in the update manager, the system no longer remembered this setting and Bluetooth is always activated after booting. Screenshot is from the old system with over 200 updates not done. I would like to have it on my new system (with current updates) as it was before or on the old system, and no workarounds that can be found on the www.

I would like to install bluez_5.53-0ubuntu3.6_amd64.deb, but I can't find it.
listed here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20220808220 ... n/b/bluez/
but
https://web.archive.org/web/20220808220 ... _amd64.deb
The Wayback Machine has not archived that URL.

viewtopic.php?p=2396409#p2396409
doesn't work for me either.

Is it in autostart (startup programs)? If yes, deactivate it there.

Not as advice but just as questions:
Don't you plan to upgrade to 20.3? I love this version, that is very mature and stable.
Why not install Blueman from standard depostories?

I don't plan to upgrade to a newer version at this time.
Does 20.3 fix this issue?
I installed Blueman from software manager but
viewtopic.php?p=2396409#p2396409
doesn't work for me either.

<SOLVED> disable bluetooth

Post by Uli »

This issue was not caused by the update marked in the update manager, it was caused by Tlp. I installed Tlp in order to limit battery charging, but this is not supported on my notebook. After removing Tlp (in Software Manager) bluetooth works fine again.
