Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
I saw a user with a Mimosa Dark conky, and was impressed. I googled it and on the authors plank page I found he had many variants. Those with integral battery power meters I left for consideration on my laptop, this variant, called Sirius, had no battery meter so I selected it for my PC. The temp display was originally on the far left of the top row, but I moved it and its background to the second row of displays to better balance it out with the equal sized backgrounds below it. I elected not to use the playerctl script that was included and am instead using my own which gives more robust info about the state of any active players. The time against the earthmap looked to me like it was meant for multiple displays, so I put in Koentje's time zone to get an idea of if I am bothering him at an ungodly hour or not. I also swapped out the user-icon image for my own. All else is stock. The top display and the bottom weather data make up the Sirius conky. The speed test is my edit of Koentje's script, and Internet Consumption is a part of the Conky08-1 conky, that I stripped out and edited to be a stand alone widget on this screen.

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
The more I looked at the Sirius conky the more out of balance it looked to me. I figured out it was the weather info split by the user avatar. I swapped their positions and now the array looks more sensible to me.

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
Blasts from the pasts!!
It looks like a tremendous amount of conkys were being scripted between 2009-2013. Many of these are still beautiful conkys, but non-functional on the current conky v1.12.2. I tried working with some older downloads and had surprising success. Here are 3 results. On top is a 2012 cronograph conky that I got up and running after an evenings work. The middle contains the minute clock, an unusual clock tracking the seconds of every min, and the mins of every day, week, month and year. This one surprisingly worked with almost no editing. On the bottom is the astronomy clock, tracking sun and moon movement and moon phases. This was a gift from Zcot. He answered my post for help and corrected the scripts in this conky making it fully functional for me.
I am really happy with these. I think I will look for some small radial conky gagues to place around them and put together a vertical array of circular framed conkys.
Here are the conkys:

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
I now have the cronograph conky displaying weather icons as updated by openweathermap.org every 3 hours. I have included the wind and humidity fields as shown in the original promo pic. I have 2 conky versions, one as scripted with the battery power meter, which run on my laptop where the battery meter is active, and a 2nd conky for my desktop form factor pc's in which battery meter is replaced by a GPU temperature display.
Here is my desktop version next to the original promo pic for comparison. I examined the promo pics font, and it doesn't include a moon or any icons for night. I am not sure why the author elected to use this font, but I have replaced it with a complete group of vector icons to represent every weather condition that openweathermap uses.

I finished working on the Modified-Mainte by Yasiru Dharmathilaka. I have added additional battery scripts provided by Koentje, an open ports widget from the Conky_Grey, an internet consumption widget from Conky_08-1, and a speedtest results widget that Koentje provided and I formatted for display on my screen.

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
I just had a MAJOR victory working with chatgpt3.5. It took hours but I got a couple of different templates made for text along a semi-circle path.
Pictured here are 4 separate config files, each controlling a right side up or upside down half of the text circles.
I had googled everywhere and couldnt find this, then a user on mint Reddit or somewhere gave me a url to an upside down text project at Deviant Art. I downloaded the files but they didnt work, so I hit the chatbot and started working my way towards this final result.
This is so cool! Last month I got slanted text, Now I have semi-circular. The conky collection is growing

OH Crap...
This is the result of battling the bot for a working scripts. It's an hours long and grueling process leaving one brain-dead.
Here the screenshot:
It's not just circular text, it's live circular text!! The one on the left displays seconds.

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
I found a beautiful old conky on Deviant Art and it's code was still functional. It was white and blue and orange, but I made it white and dark-red to match some of my blk & red abstract wallpapers. Im running default format/custom colors on my laptop to utilize the battery meter.

That angled clock in the center weather widget is sharp! I have only seen clocks using circular backgrounds until now.

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
I don't know why I posted outside of the showoff thread, but I put a post under the main Conky board and I think it makes more sense here so I am going to duplicate:
Hey everyone,
I discovered a beautiful old but working conky at Deviant Art, called Urgo:
I have it running as-is on my laptop, taking advantage of it's battery meter, but I wanted a version of this that made sense on a desktop llinux box:
with help from the Mint reddit, and ChatGPT3.5, I was able to duplicate and flip the battery meter, and convert the two to be load meters for cpu's 3 & 4.
I note there is space inside the middle ring area for another small gauge as well. I may try to put a gpu meter there.
I can't believe how beautiful some of these older conkys that I am coming across are!

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
Here is another post I put under the main board that I think will be seen by more people looking for conky ideas here:
Hello everyone,
I am still on my kick of surfing Deviant Art and other sites for conkys that catch my eye, and like most of the nice ones out there, they were originally posted 2009-2015 and rarely work properly on the current conky manager 2 programs.
I came across this Minimalis with calendar and clock called Demode:
When I copied the files to my own conky, I found the .lua was no good. None of the rings were visible as in the example, the calendar showed no days, and the clock only showed the numeric time, not the segmented rings that surrounded it.
ChatGPT3.5 was unable to repair it, so I directed it to create a new conky from scratch to replicate the clock. I got almost a perfect match, for whatever reason the 12 hour segments of my hour ring are slightly larger, and the space between segments slightly smaller, than the original conky, but I think I prefer this as it matches the other two ring's thin spacing between 60 segments each.
I started with a duplication of the Demode style and colors, then did an edit with the center time display all white and the orange ring converted to red, then a third edit of all red rings of different red values:
I think the bot did a hell of a job.
I have seen many conky clocks now, but this was the first with segmented rings replacing the time-display function of clock-hands since finding the Grey Conky some time ago.
If anyone would like their own copy of any or all of these three clocks post here and I will reply with a download link.
Have a great day

Re: Conky Showoff thread 2024
I was doing some work on my workspace 1, on which I keep the Mizar clock I have had since my first week of using conky, and I had my bot-scripted version of Demode clock up when it stuck me how similar they were. The Mizar featured the single ring counting seconds while the Demode had 3 rings for sec, min and hour. So I said to myself "Self," I said "I could make a Mizar-style edit of this Demode clock"
So I did!
So I did!

I completed my Urgo customization for a desktop version
Picutured above are the customizations, CPUs 0 & 1 meters changed to 1 & 2
Battery meter converted to CPU 3
CPU 4 added to blank space
GPU temp gauge added to blank space
I am so happy with this one
