MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
Hope this is the right subforum to ask this in.
Is there any word on when MintBox 4 will come out?
This is for the regular and pro editions of MintBox.
It's been a long while since this hardware line was updated.

Re: MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
The website talks about mintbox 3 only. So I feel that's what we have to depend on for Mintbox 4 announcement.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Thanks for replying, but I was hoping for a little more of a concrete reply here.deepakdeshp wrote: ⤴Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:37 am The website talks about mintbox 3 only. So I feel that's what we have to depend on for Mintbox 4 announcement.
Perhaps someone from the Linux Mint team will respond, and offer some insight.
Re: MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
There are no plans of which I am aware.
If you are not already doing so, I recommend following the Linux Mint Blog to keep up-to-date with the plans of the Linux Mint team. Any kind of announcement would be made there.

Re: MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
Mintbox 4 is a hardware pipedream, Linux Mint needs decent (x86_64) hardware-building backers for this, (maybe Odroid/Hardkernel, LattePanda, ..., ?).
But yes, the Lenovo mini's are nice, but for several $hundred less, grab a (DIY):
https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-h4/ , with a mini-Cube case.
It'll run Linux anything, and/or *BSD/Unix anything, OOTB.

Or,
From the Mint Menu, Copy'n'Post the "System Information" output from the "System Reports" app.

Re: MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
I am leery of those "fanless" systems since I worry that they will overheat if you do any sort of gaming on them.
Re: MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
Well, if you're going to AAA+ "game", then you're gonna need more than any SBC can provide anyway, (unless you don't care about quality), -and that will mean fans. or liquid-cooling, ..., even for a big Desktop.
That said, and even for any multi-core heavy rendering/encoding cpu tasks, other than Gaming, SBC's can easily do that too, (without any fans), albeit, will take longer.
But for any and ALL avg. desktop/laptop use, SBC's, these days, are more than up to the task.

Re: MintBox 4 (regular and pro)?
That is good to know, my gaming is limited to Civilization type games, and such like. I know my windows desktop pumps out a LOT of heat when I am gaming.scjet45 wrote: ⤴Sun Jul 28, 2024 1:16 pmWell, if you're going to AAA+ "game", then you're gonna need more than any SBC can provide anyway, (unless you don't care about quality), -and that will mean fans. or liquid-cooling, ..., even for a big Desktop.
