I've run into this problem with (3) different systems
- Linux Mint 22 (upgraded from 21.3
- Linux Mint 22 (clean install)
- Xubuntu 24.04 (clean install)
In a nutshell, when logging in the first time, whether with auto-login or manual login, Xorg crashes, sending me back to the login window. The next login always works. I've tried using QXL (my default) and VirtIO, both having the same results. None of this happens with LM 21.3 or Xubuntu 22.04, nor do any of my other Xfce-based systems (Fedora 40/Rawhide, Debian 12/Sid, Arch, openSUSE Tumbleweed).
The main error I'm seeing in the ~/.xsession-errors log is
Code: Select all
xfwm4-WARNING **: 17:12:11.798: Unsupported GL renderer (llvmpipe (LLVM 17.0.6, 256 bits))
I've seen references to this, but only with real GPUs. Has anyone else run into this, either in QEMU or Virtualbox? It doesn't happen on VMware, but that software is just too buggy for my taste.
