I have recently upraded from Mint 21, but never linked any accounts with the gnome-online-accounts setup. I decided it would be a good idea to integrate my google drive with the file manager, so I went to "online-accounts" from cinnamon settings and clicked on google.
When I did, and clicked "sign in" via the browser, it didn't launch the browser. Running it from a terminal, I get a log message about oauth2_secret_run_task from the Goa-Backend Log, but nothing happens. It puts some I would assume specific data into that command, trying to do something with com.googleusercontent.apps. I don't know if those things are account specific (I would assume not, because I haven't gotten that far yet), but the gist of the log is that "oauth2_secret_run_task" isn't either launching the browser, or knows what browser to launch. I have only Brave installed at the moment. I have tried vanilla installations of firefox and chromium, but neither of them launched (even when made default browser.)
I am not sure what other logs to look at in order to find out of that logged command from Goa-Backend failed or simply didn't start. Was there something residual from the Mint 21 installation that could've caused this. I do have 2-factor authentication turned on, but through the browser it works fine and I can see my drive and gmail.
I have run out of ideas, short as they may be. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I uninstalled it. Does online accounts require firefox and does not use the default browser?

I don't know, but it is generally recommended to keep default installs just in case.Does online accounts require firefox and does not use the default browser?
I cannot find "sign in" via the browser, but I am not running LM22.

See here.
Their case looks similar if not the same. Two workarounds have been proposed so far.

Re: Google Online Account setup not launching browser
Unfortunately, I get nothing but the log... I get no errors from the panel. I tried removing .config and .local early on, as I did upgrade rather than a fresh install. I also tried the GTK-webkit disable too... it seems to do nothing. It's as if it is launching one thing, task, and the rest is not following through. I don't remember using gnome-online-accounts on 21.3, so I couldn't find any residual configs that might be causing issues. It just seems to go out to the ether... never to return.
I will just give up and chalk this up as a failure on my machine. I don't use an nvidia card either unfortunately which was a problem with 21.3 IIRC. Thanks for trying, everyone.

Re: Google Online Account setup not launching browser
Good call, Gnome Online Accounts is a buggy POS and always has been.
I'd recommend using rclone if you want to integrate remote storage into your system. It is command line (albeit with a beta webbased GUI), so a little learning curve, but it is rock solid. It is in the repos, but I'd recommend using the current stable upstream.

That's a good recommendation. Thanks for that. It'll probably work itself out, but I'm fine with it not working at the moment. The rest of Linux Mint is so rock solid, I have nothing to complain about.
