[SOLVED] How do you edit themes?

Post by sam8232 »

Hey all :)

I've been using the e-Papirus theme for my desktop (I love the icons) but there's a couple of ones I want to change. How do I go about doing this? I've tried searching for this but it just comes up with results on how to switch to a different icon theme.

If this is possible any help in doing so would be appreciated!

If for whatever reason my system information is needed see below;

I might of not been clear but I’m trying to change the icons within the specific icon theme I’m using - so swapping around the icons of e-Papirus. I will try and look tonight though but I haven’t been able to find anything to do this in the themes menu.

Edit: for example, I want to change the update manager icon (when it is opened) on the e-papirus theme etc.

If I'm understanding you correctly....

to change a specific icon for a given application open the Cinnamon menu, type the name of the application (for your example you'd type Update Manager) don't press enter, instead right click Update Manger and select properties.
updatemanager.png
Click the shield icon in Launcher Properties

properties.png (39.28 KiB) Viewed 360 times
Which will bring up Choose an Icon dialog.

Select the icon you'd like to use, either from the presented icons or one of your choice that you saved somewhere on your machine.

Thanks so much! :) This is the method I wanted to use but for some reason it wasn't coming up in my cinnamenu applet. I am looking to also change the loading swirly graphic (see below) as I'm not keen on the one included with the e-Papirus theme.

The loading indicator was also something I'm looking to change, so it isn't quite solved yet. :)

Solved the issue for the loading circle by using the Papirus PPA. Will mark as solved.
