I've been using linux Mint 8 for weeks now and am sold, but how can I tell what release (such as LXDE, etc.) I am using if my version is 2.6.31-14.
Thanks.

mantas: I don't think there's a trash. As far as I know, deletions are permanent. If you need one you probably need to use thunar as your file explorer.

No, at least if using lxpanel. You could install gnome-panel and mint menu, I guess :)

Is any GUI-based dial-up app included in this edition?

(I know that 7xfce has Chestnut Dialer)

(EDIT: It has been confirmed that 8 Xfce comes with Chestnut Dialer as well; it has not been removed )

If so, may I suggest that you mention it in the announcements?

Since a dial-up GUI is hardly standard for a distro today and, especially, since Mint prides itself on maximum compatibility and functionality out of the box, wouldn't this only make sense?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to have this information before ordering a disc or bothering a friend with broadband.

Thanks.
