I didn't imagine that LXDE was so versatile when I installed Mint 9 LXDE a couple of weeks ago!
I love LXDE

Yes, it is. Ubuntu 10.04 is way too heavy for my old Turion 64 CPU (same for Mint 9 Main Editionrichyrich wrote:Cool . . and I bet it's wwwaaaayyyyy faster !!!

Mint LXDE runs instead veeeeery smoothly. Thanx Mint LXDE Team!!!
DasFox: yes, you're right. Ubuntu with Gnome desktop is heavy.DasFox wrote:m4daredsun wrote:Yes, it is. Ubuntu 10.04 is way too heavy for my old Turion 64 CPU (same for Mint 9 Main Editionrichyrich wrote:Cool . . and I bet it's wwwaaaayyyyy faster !!!).

No Ubuntu 10.04 isn't to heavy, you're incorrect with this statement...
You just installed the basic CD which installs Gnome. Gnome is to heavy not Ubuntu.
You can with experience do a custom install of Ubuntu with the ubuntu-10.04.1-alternate-amd64.iso
Then you can simply just install LXDE, again I said with experience....

Maybe we could open a discussion to show our customized Mint and share the ideas.
