Done as you say, it installed it clicked on the icon for it but will not open
Re: lightscribe how to
The two packages have to be installed in the proper order for the software to work.
Check the HP website for the install sequence, uninstall what you have and reinstall in the order specified and see if it works.

Re: lightscribe how to
It's been a long time since I used lightscribe, but I have a hazy recollection that it involved the terminal and sudo.
Perhaps you could try that?

Re: lightscribe how to
For those with 64 bit Linux Mint systems:joiner wrote:Got it working great now
1) get lightscribe-1.18.18.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb from www.lightscribe.com
2) Use google to locate 4l_1.0-r6_i386.deb
3)
sudo dpkg --force-architecture -i lightscribe-1.18.18.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/liblightscribe.so.1 /usr/lib32/
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/liblightscribe.so /usr/lib32/
sudo dpkg --force-architecture -i 4l_1.0-r6_i386.deb
sudo ldconfig
You can probably use a later version of 4L deb package if you can find it.
Please note that LaCie 4L binary is called 4L-gui i.e. note the capital L.
Works like a charm on Linux Mint 9 KDE.
