Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Better....
2nd attempt at LMDE desktop
I fixed AWN dock - forgot to enable Gnome compositing
Thanks to mmesantos1 for the kind words and the conky config (which I tweaked just a little bit)

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Well Got a new one for LMDE. And I had to change the Mint Update Icon on gnome Panel. That was driving me bonkers, it just stuck out like a sore thumb.
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Excellent desktop again mmesantos1
I set my panel on autohide - then I don't see it too often - otherwise there is usually an annoyance visible out of the corner of my eye...I'm amazed to think not much more than a year ago i was a Windows user with a frightful icon-strewn desktop

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Thanks Oscar799. I know its funny, back in 2007 I had an XP computer that crashed and thats what prompted me to install Linux. I am glad it did crash though or I would have never found Mint!oscar799 wrote:Excellent desktop again mmesantos1

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
i must admit i never thought i would ever think of using debian but looking at LMDE it really looks just as user-friendly and similar looking. Defiently gonna try it out when the right ISOs are up
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Hey ikey, after I installed Nvidia driver all I had to do was alt+F2 then typed in compiz and it was running then added compiz to startup apps. That was it. Am I missing somthing if I do not do compiz --replace?ikey wrote:Nice LMDE screenshots
OK for those having issues with Compiz (I wants screenies. Therefore I help ), use CCSM
(CompizConfig Settings Manager) to fix up all yer Compiz settings.
Then kick Compiz into action with ALT+F2 "compiz --replace".
Or even from the terminal:Add that to startup apps in Control Center for permanent CompizCode: Select all
compiz --replace
When someones got a few seconds I'm sure they could slap a compiz-script for
LMDE together.
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Thanks ikey, sorry, never knew it made a difference. I guess it is true I am learning something new every day.ikey wrote:idk. lol.
Don't think it *really* matters but it probably prevents multiple instances etc.
i.e. manage resources better. owait its compiz.. it dont care for resoruces..
