Must I have my own website to upload my own avatar? [SOLVED]
I still have webspace payed, in the moment the site is down. So I could upload my avatar there and link it. But isnt there any other possibility to upload it here? Usually there is an option to upload your own pic, it does not seem to be the case here on this forum.

Or use an application like Dropbox. It is in the repositories, but I have had better success with the .deb from there website for Mint7 and 9. For LMDE you have to compile from source.

Somehow it just would not work:
[img=http://imageshack.us/thumbnmail.png]
Thats the code I got, I erased it like so:
http://img835.imageshack.us/i/avatarcat.jpg/][img=http://imageshack.us/thumbnmail.png
and it still didn't work.
May be it doesn't like png here as avatar, Just changing the pic to jpg, then I try again.

Re: Must I have my own webspace to upload my own avatar?
I've uploaded another one now, cause the first was bigger than 6Kb.
It doesn't seem to work either though.

this code I get, but there is no avatar when I finished the upload
I am giving up for today...

Re: Must I have my own webspace to upload my own avatar?
May be I should ask the admins so that I can send it per email or something.
Re: Must I have my own webspace to upload my own avatar?
If the pic is so small (X x Y sizes) so convert it to gif.

Sometimes it's just a matter of keep trying the provided links until you find one that works
(I am an admin - I don't have any way of adding an avatar for a user,I can remove an unsuitable one,but I can't add one)

Join Webshots, it's free. Set your avatar at around 80x80 Pixels and it should go through. They have everything including an address for your saved photos to use for just this sort of thing.

Hurray! I just did what you said and it's working.vooid wrote:sorry morris, I didn't regard the size of your picture too

Totally illogically so, I mean, why do I have to set dimensions to 0, if they are obviously 120 x 120 ? But it seems to work finally so, thanx, vooid.
How did you get that idea? Usually genious people get their best ideas just trying this and trying that. Mustn't be always logical. Or is there any logical reason for it after all?
Re: Must I have my own webspace to upload my own avatar?
Okay, now just the last step remains:
change the color of the cat into less depressive as black...

P.S. Also the cat face look like it'd be very very
confused or melancholic... What happened to it?

haha, nothing genious about me morris. When you set avatar dimensions to 0 it tries to automatically adjust it, its explained below the URL input box.
Avatar dimensions:
Specify the width and height of the avatar, leave blank to attempt automatic verification.
Anyway, enjoy your new avatar.

Yeah, I was feeling quite at home here too, seeing all those cat-avatars already here...oscar799 wrote:Nice to see another cat has arrived on Mint Forum..
The fellow on the avatar is a very strange stray who can do all sorts of funny faces and he can hypnotize people into doing things. That way he is very clever to organize food not only for himself but for his friends as well! Physically he is a very small sample of his race and therefore gets beaten up a great deal of time. That's why he learned to use other means of gaining his living than brutal force alone.
