Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
indeed - also by mimicing the elementary metacity theme you can use the same gtk theme in openbox and gnome and can switch back and forth without a problem
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
It's just the default Gnome menu that goes by Alt + F1.gotjazz wrote:really nice! how'd you get that *box-like right click menu if it is one?
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
ah - didn't know that worked if there wasn't some kind of bar or button for it around
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
really nice - do the colors follow the skydome or is the skydome chosen to fit the colors?
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Thank you gotjaz, I chose the skydome due to it matched the theme. I generally start with the wallpaper and work my theme around it.gotjazz wrote:really nice - do the colors follow the skydome or is the skydome chosen to fit the colors?

Just upgraded to KDE 4.6 beta 1! A few bugs here and there but nothing to bring your system to its knees. Pretty impressive for a beta1 release. There are some nifty improvements in Dolphin and Nepomuk. However, Nepomuk does crash quite often when you run searches.

have you ever tried KDE-Aurorea?
It looks really great and is really simple to create own styles, since KDE 4.5 it comes automatically with KDE or with the KDE desktop...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
I love what I'm seeing about 4.6. I can't wait until it hits the PPA so I can give it a spin. Not only did that announcement look great but there's just one word for those screenshots. Shiny!
Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Thanks Leit and BostonPeng
Yes I have tried the Aurorae themes... the Aurorae engine is now packaged with KDE SC. Here some screenshots I took a while ago.
Some of the alpha-channel-intensive themes do not render properly... the alignment of the title bars with the rest of the window is not always right. It could be due to my integrated Intel graphics. Oxygen-transparent worked well in 4.5.3 but there are some issues in 4.6, which is why I decided to go with plain Oxygen for the screenshot.
BostonPeng, yes KDE does look very shiny... but it is what they are doing to how we use the desktop is what wins me over.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
I agree completely shane. My calling it "Shiny" was actually a Firefly reference. I suspect the looks will get people to check it out, and when they do the functionality has a good chance at winning them over.
