LMDE (201012)

Post by ddavid123 »

I installed the 64 bit version of LMDE on my laptop today, and I must say i like! I previously had Windows 7 and Linux Mint 9 (via windows mint installer) installed. I deleted Linux Mint 9 and did the usual disk checks before and after resizing the Windows partition. Installation went quickly and without any problems! The windows bootloader was on sda1, Windows on sda2, recovery tools on sda3, and LMDE on sda4. I decided to install grub on sda4 so to preserve the windows bootloader.

After the installation the computer rebooted and lo and behold, a masterpiece was displayed on my screen! The new theme is just amazing! The new icon set is brilliant and eye catching. The release as a whole is aesthetically pleasing and very professional. I love the new Mint Menu with all the new search capabilities! You did a great job with the new wallpapers. Perfect blend of applications for optimal enjoyment and productivity! The only thing that was not set up out-of-the-box was the mouse pad (track pad?), which I enabled without a fuss! I hate clicking the buttons and prefer tapping the pad for clicking/double clicking.

When I am running LMDE, I forget I am running a modified Debian install! It doesn't feel like the Debian I have come to know and love. You have taken the venerable, tested and true Debian, and transformed it into a sleek, stylish, and professional Desktop OS! I look forward to jockey-gtk and other goodies in the next release. No need to reinstall, this is a rolling distribution!

Had the same issue when using the LMDE Live-DVD, In my case there as no Track pad tab on the mouse properties, so how did you configure yours?

I just went to the Control Center -> Mouse. Clicked the touchpad tab and selected "Enable mouse clicks with touchpad" Is the live-DVD you spoke of the Christmas release (201012)?
