lolz now after like 4 hours of updates i am ready to start installing stuff

o shizz!!!!!! ummm do i need the package named "gnome-core"?
EDIT: im also having some trouble with wine. id like to install 1.3.11 but all i can seem to install using lmde is 1.1.42 any help here?
EDIT2: also i discovered a few bugs. a lot of the sound effects such as boot and shutdown (not login tho) only play a quick static zap like sound. as well my comp installed epiphany browser all on its own o.o

In your updates, gnome-core got updated. The gnome-core metapackage now has Epiphany and Evolution included. So, those got added when you updated. There was already a lot of talk about the gnome-core metapackage a few weeks ago. You may want to look over that thread. No harm in having a backup browser and email/calendar, however.

well i took a look and considering how much crap u gotta do and how risky removing gnome-core sounds too be im just gonna deal for now

Was there anything wrong with selecting Preferences from the right-click menu? You can directly affect the Places items from there.

Goodbye Gnome-Core Metapackage,I saw an interesting fix in that bug report:

aptitude unmarkauto ~R^gnome-core$
aptitude remove gnome-core
That looks more professional than the way I have done it.
