I used KDE for a while (Mandriva), still boot there once in a while just to refresh my eyes , and honestly never felt constraint customizing. Specially after i found Bespin, the options are almost endless.lKingjr wrote:okay, to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of KDE, mainly because it's harder to customize unless I missed something somewhere.
but I think this looks ok, so I'm posting it anyway (pretend it's Mint)

Oh! I like the transparency, although I'm not sure it will work in VirtualBox. I will try it.Nice Lou, I did transparent KDE. I still say it was you Lou.

nice desktop lou.
and this...

look REALLY awesome... how do you get it this kinda transparent? I only know the transparency point, where everything (so symbols and text too) get transparent.mmesantos1 wrote:Nice Lou, I did transparent KDE. I still say it was you Lou.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
CaptHilts, i've had the same problem, but as i didn't chage permissions until i had switeched to elementary, i thought it as juts a fault with nautilus. I had to chagne the permission on all my old recovered files from root to my user and only after i had painstakingly changed each file, did i discover that the only way to change them is using chown -R or chmod, i forgot which now, i think chown.CaptHilts wrote:just noticed you're using nautilus-elementary as well and was wondering if you're still able to change permissions to enclosed files? not sure it has to do with elementary but i noticed that when i hit the apply permissions to enclosed files button, the files in the folders don't change permission anymoremmesantos1 wrote:Ok so used the wall before but switched to GTK Orta, icon ACYL. Like this look better.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread
Yea once i posted i thought about the terminal method as well cause i also tried the "each file at once"-method but i've got like a few thousand files in that folder so yea...you get the picturemintmaniac2 wrote:CaptHilts, i've had the same problem, but as i didn't chage permissions until i had switeched to elementary, i thought it as juts a fault with nautilus. i guess in the future i'll do without nautilus-elementary because i actually only installed it so i can use clutter view for my image folder...which looks great but frankly, after messing around with it the first few days...stopped using it.
on a sidenote...i'm thinking about switching to xfce cause version 4.8 looks really cool and the guys posting these awesome KDE pictures...well, difficult i never really got into KDE tho...speed-wise, any good?

Todays look:
Not that big customization.
The GTK Theme is a KDE 4 lookalike, Docky at the bottom, and GlobalMenu in the top panel.
Wallpaper is Endoplasmic Reticulum by yours truly.
