Thought I'd come and say hello before heading over to the newbie help section
My name is Martin and I'm a 32 year old guy from Warwickshire in the UK. I'm completely new to Linux really, but thought I would give Mint a spin as of late Windows 7 was driving me to distraction with its inability to perform simple tasks such as deleting a file without using a 3rd party "unlocker"! So far, I'm really pleased with it - I've got all my usual programs running (or their equivalents) and I've got a new toy to play with Anyway, pleased to meet you all and hope to see you around.

Welcome to the Mint community Martin. There is a Tricks of the Trade thread which has links to a lot of useful sites and tutorials. It does include some tutorials in the tread also.

Welcome,
I too am new to linuxmint but after a week i am beginning to find my way round and changed several of the de-fault programs to those better suited to me, I even learnt enough to fix my daughters note pad [running a weird for of Linux called Linpus] Its nice to have control over the machine, instead of being controlled
