Hungs up while installing...

Post by Alejandro »

Hi!

first post

So, I have been using Linux since 2002, today I saw this new Mint thingy :) and I decided to give it a try.

After a very fast download, I burned my CD and started to install (Celena? it's the 3.1).

As everything, almost nothing goes as smoothly as we would like to. The installation hung my computer while copying files the message is "few minutes to complete installation..." (or something like that)

Does anyone have the same problem? or this is just an Alejandro problem? :(

 you're right :P

I have a Gigabyte mobo, AMD Athlon 64 @ 1800 MHz and 2 GB the HDD is a 80BG Seagate Barracuda.

Sadly I can't test the CD in any other computer as I don't have one. My GF has a laptop and she doesn't want anything to do with Linux (I've tried, believe me...), so I'm short of those things...

I'll try to install Debian now and see if it's the HDD.

there is no reason why Mint should not work in your hardware.

going back to mint try to burn another copy at a lower speed

I'll try debian just as a test. I think I like Mint very much and I'll find the way to install it...

Have you check the md5 of the ISO and burned at 2X?
This link might help.
