Baahh . . why work up an appetite, when I go home to an empty fridge !
Re: My favorite desktop
I like to think of it as window shopping, I can dream about driving a Porsche even if I only have an old beat-up work truck in the drive.
I love metaphors.

It's a long story why Vista is on that computer but it has all open source applications installed and it's alright.

Re: My favorite desktop
Thanks lmintnewb! I used the Aero theme and I just got lucky with finding the wallpaper. I found a way to change the welcome screen but it might be risky in Windows.
Re: My favorite desktop
Here is my favorite desktop.
Gnome 3 works really well for us small netbook users.
The full size pictures are shown here :-

I installed Linux Mint, enabled any hardware drivers, installed and configured pidgin, Chrome web browser then followed these instructions to upgrade to gnome 3 :-

This all worked a treat.
I do think that Gnome 3 is very much a 'marmite' desktop (you will either like it or hate it).

Great screen shots diddy1234! I can see gnome 3 working out well on a netbook and your screen shots demonstrate how nice it can look. Thanks for explaining how you set this up and how it works for you! Others with netbooks can benefit from your experience. Nice work!
Re: My favorite desktop
Doesn't look too bad with that background. Wonder why i gave up Unity that fast? It just doesn't suit to me.
