HI all,
I want to change my version of Linux to the Debian package as it is a rolling upgrade, but don't want to do it without having acidrip as it's become a favourite of mine
I have downloaded acidrip 1.4 but when I try to install it via makefil.pl it fails with the following message
Can't open joystick device /dev/input/js0: No such file or directory
Can't init input joystick
mplayer: could not connect to socket
mplayer: No such file or directory
Failed to open LIRC support. You will not be able to use your remote control.
Playing 2.
File not found: '2'
Failed to open 2.
How can I overcome this error?
cheers

Re: installing acid rip?
AcidRip used to be one of my favourites, but it does not seem to be developed anymore. I would recommend that you try k9copy (see review here: http://www.linux.com/archive/feature/144541 and also my post on multimedia applications here: http://url.laspas.gr/8)
Re: installing acid rip?
Yes, really old, but I found Ubuntu debs here that work:
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/m ... a/acidrip/

Re: installing acid rip?
thanks guys, I will test K9, but how do you install the debian packages on the link? Yeah I know a bit of a newbie
Re: installing acid rip?
Pick one, I chose acidrip_0.14-0.2ubuntu6_all.deb, download and double click on it.
Re: installing acid rip?
Hmm most odd, when I did that it didn't work. Just repeated it and it installed!! Fantastic Thanks very much indeed, now I just need to decide on the 32 or 64 bit version
Best wishes

Re: installing acid rip?
I saw there is also OMGRip and DVDrip, did you try those ones ?
Re: installing acid rip?
I most certainly did
OGM rip is great, but very slow compared to acid (c6hrs compared to 1hr) and I didn't like dvdrip.
cheers
